Dan Mattson, Trombone
Daniel Mattson has been the assistant principal trombonist of Grand Rapids Symphony since 1997. He is a proud Michigan native and earned both his undergraduate and graduate degrees from Michigan State University where he studied trombone with Curtis Olson and wind conducting with John Whitwell. Besides his work with the Grand Rapids Symphony, Dan has performed frequently with the Detroit Symphony, including two tours to Carnegie Hall, as well as with the Detroit Chamber Winds and the Brass Band of Battle Creek. He has been invited to perform at numerous summer music festivals, including the Cabrillo Festival of Contemporary Music; the Vermont Mozart Festival; Strings in the Mountains; the Crested Butte Music Festival; and the Pine Mountain Music Festival in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.
